THE BUCKLEY BUILDING . BUCKLEY GRAY YEOMAN

While Associate at Buckley Gray Yeoman architects I was Project Architect for the award-winning Buckley Building project in Clerkenwell, a 100,000 sq ft  multi-let office building with a Granger & Co restaurant on the ground floor, for Derwent London.  The design approach was of subtle intervention while renewing and celebrating the original 1930's warehouse architecture.  The existing atrium was infilled and 1980's additions removed, the top floor was extended with a new terrace created to its perimeter, the building entrance was relocated to its prominent Clerkenwell Green corner and the ground and top floor facades were entirely renewed alongside the retained and refurbished Crittall windows.

This £15m extension and refurbishment was completed in 2013 and named in dedication to Richard Buckley, a founding partner of Buckley Gray architects.  The project was realised with a meticulous attention to detail, achieved through collaboration with a number of master craftsmen and a strong client team.
