In The Window

Helen Leask1 Comment

I am delighted to have been invited to feature 'In The Window': a social experience of design stories & collections by inspiring designers, makers and brands.

In The Window’s fast-growing community already includes leading design names, inspiring talent, and high-profile events from around the world, such as Maison&Objet, Designers Guild, Staffan Tollgard, Cole & Son, Pitman Tozer Architects, Goddard Littlefair, Norm Architects, Rachel McLane and many more.

In The Window exists to celebrate design talent and to foster a deep social experience around their stories and work.

Planning Permission has been secured for the refurbishment and restoration of a mixed-use building within the Margate Conservation Area, two weeks ahead of the due determination date.

Built in the early 1880's, with the Turner Contemporary gallery now standing opposite, the existing building contributes significantly to the character of the conservation area and Margate’s seafront architecture.  Having been used as a storage facility- remarkably- by its previous owner, the shopfront, fenestration and roof finish will now be reinstated to their original design and the internal layout for the commercial unit and residential floors above have been reimagined with a contemporary objective.

Works are due to commence imminently and the commercial unit will soon be the home of an exciting new addition to Margate's Old Town.

the Curio

I am delighted to share that the Hawley Square project has been featured in the fantastic blog the Curio: http://thecurioinmargate.com/2015/08/31/helen-pete/

I have long been a fan of the Curio, which not only offers a fantastic catalogue of the interesting people who have moved to Margate or set up businesses here and beautifully refurbished their properties, but Jo Bridges has a wonderful eye and unique way of photographing their interiors.  Jo has a talent for capturing the essence of a space, offering a sense of the personality of its occupiers, which is why I was always so keen for her to photograph my home and it is an honour to be included on her blog.
